All film scanning is done uncompressed.


The initial color correction is done in the scanner by the DMG color corrector at a data rate of 2.970 GB/s. Additional color correction is done in DaVinci Resolve.


This two-step process gives our colorists more tools at their disposal to improve your image.


Color corrected digital data leaves the Rank Cintel Scanner at 2.970 Gb/s 4:2:2 uncompressed on a 3G HD serial digital interface cable.








If you order Master H.264 .mov files on a hard drive:

The uncompressed data is converted and encoded as H.264 files and recorded directly to the hard drive.


If you order DVDs:

Master H.264 data is converted to standard MPEG-2 DVDs and is recorded at approximately 10 Mb/s, the highest data rate allowed by the DVD format.


If you order Blu-rays:

Master H.264 data is converted to Blu-ray at a data rate of approximately 35 Mb/s, the highest data rate allowed by the Blu-ray format.


There are no analog stages after the photons collide into the imager. This ensures the highest picture quality.
